I couldn't wait to blog this photo. I swear it's hit or miss when it comes to Lubbock weather around this time of year and man did we hit this senior session on a perfect day. I'm talking NO WIND! NO RAIN! and yes I'm going to say this...NO SNOW (because it could happen here in Lubbock).

Natalie was given a Senior Session as a graduation gift. So Natalie, Natalie's boyfriend and her mom made the drive from Lamesa for the photo session today.

I had a wonderful time with this group, I'm talking straight up awesome personalities.

I just love when my clients bring props to their photo session. In the time that we get to hang out and take awesome pictures ;) I feel like the props allow me to get to know who that person is just a little more.

Desirea didn't just bring one prop but she brought her little dog too! Desirea rocked it like a true super model!

It's Spring

Finally! Finally! It's spring! You have nooo idea how happy this makes me. You know what else makes me happy? Daylight savings time :) Longer days, more time to shoot and NO MORE SNOW! Pshhh! I can't complain...this just makes me straight up happy.

Will has been a friend since the beginning of my college career while at Tech and I met Meagan a few months back when I did her senior session.

Talk about small world, because when I saw that the two got engaged I was so excited for them. Talk about a perfect match!

Will and Meagan were definitely made for each other. I've never seen Will so happy since I've known him, and he's a pretty happy person to begin with, but when I saw him with Meagan his eyes would just light up.

Congrats Will and Meagan! I can't thank you enough for letting me take y'alls photos. HURRY UP AUGUST ;) Love you both!

One of my great friends Parks came back to Lubbock for one more who-ra (spelling?) before his journey to Dallas (he got a big kid job).

I'm so thankful for him as a friend. Parks, if your reading this, I'm so proud of you! Your gonna kick butt at your new job!

I met Beth through Experience Life Now Church and she has been such a great friend to me, and at our session I finally got to meet her amazing husband Keith.

What great chemistry these two have, and their story was something off of the show Boy Meets World. Keith and Beth grew up across the street from one another, and now look...There happily married :)

Snow in the LBK

SNOW! Yes, snow...and a lot of it. Just enough snow on the ground to make that awesome crunching sound when you walk on it.

If I let this snow pass me by without a photo shoot I would have just been so upset with myself. So, I did something about it. I offered a FREE photo shoot on Facebook for any willing model to brave the cold and Ms. Nicole Clarke was the first to volunteer. She was a trooper...she even sat in the snow while her bum soaked up all the water and made it twice as cold for her! I don't know how she did it, but she did it and rocked the shoot.

Nicole, It was great getting to spend some time with you again (like the good old MCOM days), what an awesome session!

The Junction Experience

I'm growing fond of building my website because in the past 3-5 hours I haven't gotten any work done. NOT because I don't want to construct this wonderful master piece of web work, but I keep finding old pictures on my OLD PC external hard drive.

I couldn't help myself I got all caught up in my Junction 2008 Trip photos. It truly brought the biggest smile to my face and then I just couldn't stop laughing. All the inside jokes we made in those 15 days. With what started off with 15 strangers who are now a few of my closest friends I still consider family.

I must try to get back to work on this website and not get distracted. But I wanted to share just a little into what we call, "The Junction Experience".

To the crew of Junction 2008: I miss you guys so much! I hope wherever you are at right now you take a second to just sit and think back to sitting outside Wild Bills house listening to the river just pass us by as we listen to Jerod and Matt play their guitars'.

Matthew Mann ::Sneak Peak::

What an awesome Saturday I had! Grant and I met up with my dad in Amarillo, Texas. But oddly enough a few days before we left I got an e-mail from Matthew asking, "Will you be in Amarillo anytime soon..." Crazy how things just work out like that, but I was able to tell him, "Why yes, I'll actually be there this weekend."

With the help of my boyfriend Grant, Matthew and I had an amazing session with some amazing light. Yes, I'm all about the yummy light :) This wasn't your regular session, let me tell you ladies and gents Matthew plays the bass in the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra and is pretty much amazing!

Matthew, what an awesome session! Thanks for being such a rockin' model!

I think in blogs

Grant and I went to Abilene this past weekend to visit his parents, and let me tell you this weekend was amazing, and much needed.

Since I've graduated I've found myself keeping pretty busy, with not only photography, but with new job opportunities which allow me to use my photography.

I just recently got a part-time job working with UMC Health Systems and they were just recently ranked the 2nd best place to work in Texas by Texas Monthly Magazine. Pretty sweet! But what a blessing it has been. I'll be working with the Marketing team as Communication Assistant/Photographer . I can't wait to see what all we get to do this year and all the different things I'll be learning.

I'm also in the midst of a long awaited website. It's been a blast for me to go back into my work and see all the different people I've met through photography, I can't thank my clients enough for such a wonderful site I'm able to put together, YOU ARE ALL SOOO GORGEOUS!

I'll leave you with a photo I took while in Abilene. Meet Lewis, a Brittany Spaniel with nothing more on his mind than going hunting with his dad.

Oh, and Seniors (High School or College) It's never to early to book your Senior Session! Graduation is coming faster than you know it (trust me... your last semester just flies by).

It is exactly 19 days till I graduate from Texas Tech with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Photocommunications and Communications studies and a minor in Secondary Education. I love this University, and I will truly miss it (Don't worry I'm not leaving Lubbock)...but there will be another blog post for my tribute to Texas Tech later :)

I felt like my blog needed a little loving today, and since I had some extra time I wanted to leave you with a warm post, because it IS snowing here in the LBK.

Prayer

Hey blog readers, thanks for checking into the blog today. Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I couldn't be more ecstatic to be spending it with my boyfriend's family out in Abilene, Tx. Although I definitely will be missing my family and Christmas tree farm trip in Houston.

Well I'm starting to pack my stuff for the three hour road trip to hang out with Grant's family. But, like usual...I had to check my blogs :)

I'm an avid blog follower of people and today I saw a new posting by Promise Tangeman Design . As i was reading their blog they left a post and prayer requests for a family who has a young girl that is battling against brain cancer.

I just encourage you readers to take a few minutes and watch their video (below) and check out the website.

Last Week and This Week

I'll stick with the word "Yummy" for this session. Lubbock weather has been amazing for the past week now and I was more than excited to shoot an engagement session during it.

Ryan and Allison are great friends of mine and it was such an honor to do this for them. They are so in love it's the cutest thing to watch. The two have been dating for three years, so when Ryan popped the question everyone was so pumped for the two love birds.

Hi. It's Grant. The 'unofficial' official blogger for the evening.

October has come and is almost gone but it isn't leaving without the "Second Annual Chili Fest and Pumpkin Carving Competition" taking place. We had chili and cornbread (which was delicious) and then we started carving our pumpkins. It was great being able to spend time with friends.

These weren't your traditional Jack-o-Lanterns. Oh no, no, no... these were legit. Grade A legit. We had no idea that they were going to turn out as good as they did but after 2 hours of intense carving we were pleased with the results.

The Thornton Family ::Andrews, Texas::

I've finally had some time to sit and breathe. School, work, photography, and life have all become so busy. But being busy is a good thing, right?

Well, here is the family session from Andrews, Texas. I had the pleasure of hanging out with this family on an AMAZING beautiful Saturday afternoon. Did I mention that my boyfriend Grant came out for the first time to help out with the shoot? Well, he did, and what a job he did.

Tara's Turning 4

Around the same time last year I did a family session with the Mobley family, but the thing was...it was so dang cold, I think it was in the mid 50s with some wind chill of FREAKIN COLD! So when Kerry told me she wanted to do a session with Tara for her 4th birthday, better believe I was already praying for the weather to hold up, and not pull some crazy Lubbock weather change on us. We had a great session on Sunday, and I couldnt be happier with the way everything turned out.

One thing I like best while working with kids, is that they just "fall into themselves" that's where I get most of my inspiration for "posing" my clients. There is no work done on my part when I tell kids to go stand/sit somewhere; they completely take over the photo shoot.

Grimes Family Session

Alex got the family together so they could put together a anniversary gift for their parents. What a great idea I might add ;)

Cheyenne ::Senior Session:

This whole week Lubbock has been under some thick clouds. I'm talking no sun breaking through.

Cheyenne scheduled her senior session probably two months previous to Sundays shoot. So, throughout those two months we had some time to plan and prep for what we wanted...but we didn't plan for the clouds.

But in all reality, Cheyenne was the perfect fit for the day and the session. AHHH! I'm telling you guys, the light was dead on! Yes, Sunday at 7 o'clock, there was a break in the thick clouds! Cheyenne took over downtown Lubbock! I had such a blast with her! Totally rock'n attitude and such a fun personality!

The North Family and 9 puppies

My last semester of college has come and it's already flooding me with assignments and reading; boo for that. But yay for this post!

When I decided what I wanted to do with my photography I knew I wanted to make an impact on people and leave them with some gnarley photos. But one thing that I keep saying over and over in my blog posts is that the connection and friends you make through photography lasts a lifetime. My clients aren't just my clients, they become family and friends.

I've had the pleasure of seeing little baby Tatum grow up and now she's almost two years old! Getting to catch up with Erika and Josh, and their life as parents, is just a blast for me to hear.

Erika and Josh, thanks for such a wonderful session with Tatum. It's always a pleasure to see you two.

The Carter Family

Since I've been in Lubbock going to school at Tech its been kind of hard for me to take the trips home to Houston to visit the family.

But it just works out perfect that my sister and her husband live in Dallas. So each summer I leave the city limits of Lubbock to head down to Dallas my parents leave Houston and to head up to Dallas for our little family reunions.

I haven't seen my sister since Christmas break and my parents since a very short weekend I went to Houston in May. But to top the trip off I got to bring my wonderful boyfriend Grant; first time to meet the family :)

The weekend was great! It was so good to see everyone and for everyone to meet the love of my life. So, to top it all off I got to have a long awaited photo session with my sister and brother-in-law.

Getting to 2nd shoot behind Jenny Burton was a blast! It was kind of like a reunion in several different ways. Last year around the same time, when I was interning for Kristin Bednarz, I had met Jenny at one of the weddings Kristin was covering. From that point on Jenny and I kept in contact.

When she asked me to help 2nd shoot for Brian and Cristi I couldn't say no. I had also met Brian at the same wedding I met Jenny. It was great to see him and his beautiful bride on their wedding day. One of the best weddings I've gotten to be a part of.

Thanks Jenny for an awesome time and thank you Brian and Cristi for being one hot bride and Groom!

I'm totally excited about this session. About a month ago I bought this 85mm 1.8, and really haven't had the chance to really spend some time with it, but this Sunday I did :)

I couldn't have asked for a better Sunday or a better person to photograph.

I met Doneece in my Education classes at Tech and we just finished our student teaching this past semester! HECK YA! Well, Doneece is a soon to be dance teacher and also is currently working at a dance studio...needless to say shes pretty much amazing at dancing!

The Hlavaty Family

I had the wonderful opportunity to do another family session with the other side of the Hlavaty family.

I promise doing family sessions is something so special to me. Its not just taken pictures of a family; because after the sessions, I always feel like the family's take me in and show me their life together as a family.

I got to walk down the hallway of the Hlavaty family's house and got to see pictures of where they have been and who they have become. What an awesome thing when you can share something like that with your clients.

I met Mr. Hlavaty last year while I was interning with Kristen Bednarz. I was leaving Kristen's house and saw this HUGE field of sunflowers and had to pull over. Low and behold it was Mr. Hlavaty that I talked to about getting a model out here to do a little shoot.

Hudson had a great idea about the family getting on top of this over turned "thing" with the windmill behind it. I must say Hudson, you got an eye for composition!

Today has been a suuuuuper long day. We woke up at 1:30am this morning and headed up Mount Haleakala to watch the sunrise. It was freeeezing up on top of the mountain! We then biked 27 miles down the mountain with speeds topping 35mph. We had breakfast in Paia and made our way back to the Villa to take a much needed nap.

Needless to say, the day was extremely long, but totally worth it!

No, but really! Blog readers/followers/friends/family...let me tell you what. This month has been SO incredible. God has been working in so many different ways, it just blows my mind.

So, I've got this amazing and super hot boyfriend named Grant, which by the way I'm going to marry at some point down the line ;) But that's besides the point.

Well, Grant's got this super wonderful family. Well, Laurie, Grant's mom, met this awesome christian guy named Leffel...Needless to say he just swept Laurie off her feet. It is so refreshing seeing a man of God treat a woman with such high respect, because like my boyfriend said...he's pretty much almost a dying breed.

This past week, I brought my camera over to the apartment and got to take some super cute pictures of this lovely couple. Ahh, yes...and you know what? Laurie had NO idea that Leffel had a ring patiently awaiting to fit her little finger.

Ok ok ok! I'm sooo excited because I've given myself time to blog!

I really do enjoy blogging, but I also LOVE getting to blog about people that are in love. I just feel so lucky that I get to hang out with people that are in love!

Allen and Kristie are definitely in love too.

The first five minutes into the session I already knew these two were gonna be a fun couple to work with. Allen is just so dang sweet to Kristie! :) It was really funny to watch them just crack jokes at each other.

A Fresh New Look

I've been feeling very inspired lately and when I was browsing the web my friend Jenn and I came across some sweet looking logos. Well I did a little spin off of one and this is what I got.

I'm not gonna lie, I felt like a little artist when I finished this project. I drew this freehand on a piece of paper and my boss scanned it for me and the rest is history.

1. Getting to see my new friend Kristen hard at work on Southwest Airlines (she was my flight's flight attendant )
2. Walking in the hanger of a B-17 Bomber (from WWII)
3. Scouting out locations in downtown Houston (and running into my friend Zach Lanning)
4. Getting a new lens and hanging out with my Dad (85mm 1.8)
5. Talking "lenses" for a good 1.5 hours @ Houston Camera Exchange
6. Shopping with my Mom
7. Taking pictures using my new lens
8. Eating a fabulous dinner with the fam.

Lubbock has been such a green sight lately...I mean I could say like "green" as "GO GREEN" because I'm sure Lubbock is...but when I say "green sight" I mean the grass and trees have been sooooo green lately. Oh! AND! Mind you, to compliment this "green sight" has been some g'narley storm clouds.

This is quite different for Lubbock...and you better believe I'm gonna take full advantage of it.

Soooo, in my time of "advantage" I got to have this wonderful senior session with Jacob. I tell you what blog readers...this young man is going to be the next big thing in the video gaming world. I'm talking full out genius here. During his session I also got to hang out with his mom and step dad. I'm so excited for both of them because Jacob is about to head off to college and accomplish some big dreams and goals.

I've been a little behind on my blogging...I know there shouldn't be any excuses for it. But life as we know it gets a bit crazy ;) So that's why I'm not going to complain.

I got a chance to work with one of the cutest couples a few weekends ago. Amanda King and her fiance Michael were in town for Amanda's bridals I did on Saturday (those will be posted after the big day).

But Sunday was all about the love and laughing. Michael and Amanda were so much fun to work with! These two were just so crazy about each other! I'm just that lucky I get to act like the fly on the wall and get to laugh with them.

God is so awesome!

The Hlavaty Family

I bring you the Hlavaty family. I can't even begin to explain how awesome this family was to photograph. As I have been told, it is hard to get everyone in one place because the family is so spread out all over the states -- from Houston all the way out to Hawaii (pretty sweet eh, Blake is in the NAVY so he and his wife got to live out there for a while (thanks for serving)).

I have to give it to Shay though, this girl reminds me of LC from the MTV show The Hills. I say this because LC is a great multitasker and great at organizing things; and Shay was all of that and more. She coordinated the families outfits and had the locations scouted out. Shoot(no pun intended), she made this session so easy and fun!

Jordan Saldana :: Senior Session::

Let me tell you about this session. Wait, my gosh! I actually don't know where to start. AH! YES! I DO! Lubbock High School. This past semester (I can say past now because it's over)I did my student teaching at Lubbock High, here in well, Lubbock. I cannot even begin to tell you guys how amazing it was. I seriously got put with a teacher that was so down to earth and great to work with. He also was the coach of the JV softball team. Well since its in my class description, I had to "shadow" my teacher...which meant I was out at the softball fields every day with the JV and Varsity girls.

In a matter of days I was so attached to these girls! So talented and amazing at softball! Jordan, was among one of those baller softball girls.

When Jordan told me she was graduating I told her, shes gonna have to let me take her senior pictures, and I'm so thankful she allowed me to do so.

Our session was nothing short of an adventure. Let me put it this way....
1. We got hit on by a homeless guy
2. Off in the distance you could hear Beyonce Knowles was playing a live show at the pavilion
3. We were pretty much 10 feet away from what looked like a soon to be crime scene
4. You got to take some sweet pictures inside one of Lubbock's Newest Wine Houses

Talk about a session people! Jordan was a trooper! And on top of that...I believe Jordan should be a super model! This chic was OWNING IT!

Inspiring Woman Project

The last 7 months have set my life on a roller coaster. Now, when I saw rollercoaster I mean this in the most positive way ever. I would never take these 7 months back for anything. I have done so many things for myself, I have met so many new friends and I’ve accomplished more goals then I ever thought I would have for myself. One of which was to start a woman’s bible study.

This thought has been on my heart since the beginning of Fall semester of ’08. Took me till Spring ’09 to get organized and really get things figured out about what God needed me to do. The bible study consist of 10 girls and one book, The Book of Romance; one heck of a book if you ask me.
My whole goal with this bible study is to empower and INSPIRE young woman to be in a Godly relationship where they feel encouraged by their significant other and just feel all around loved.

It’s crazy because the idea’s God was feeding me were so g’narly! At points I thought I wasn’t going to be able to keep up with myself, but yet God always made himself so present in those times.

So what do you get when you put a group of beautiful Godly woman and five Lubbock Photographer together? The Inspiring Woman Project!

The goal of this Project was to have the girls feel Inspired! Feel Beautiful! To feel like a super model! To take over the whole world! So that’s exactly what we did. Kristin Bednarz, Toni Spray, Betsy Lackey and myself took four beautiful young ladies out on the town for a little photo shoot.
I can’t even begin to explain the fun we had. Seeing the Inspiring Woman Project come together the way it did I am forever in debt to the photographers that helped out with making it happen.

Thanks for all your help ladies! And models we couldn’t have done it with out yall!

Hey guys! Ok, so I just got home from student teaching and I always check my mailbox on the way in my apartment complex, because, well...getting mail is the funnest thing ever (well maybe not ever, but its fun). Well, a few months back I did a little work for UMC Health System here in Lubbock, Tx.

I just got the final product and I'm totally stoked about how it turned out! UMC did a great job on the cover, and the whole DVD, just beautiful editing! Great people over there at UMC!

Wow! The wind was outrageous this whole week in Lubbock. But, I have to give it to Jarrott and our great side kick Tallie, to stickin it out for one heck of a photo session. Not only did I have one lovely model to work with but; Jarrott you ROCKED it! Beautiful cloud structure, with some diffused light, God brought it all!
