Well good evening to all...Today was a beautiful day but yet a little bit sad all at the same time.
My parents had to put our dog shadow down. She is def. in a better place, and she lived a great puppy dog life. She will be missed by everyone that met her. Below is an e-mail my dad wrote about her and a little bit about her life. You should read it.
Love you all
Linda
Hi Everyone,
I met her when she ran up to me to say "hello" during an October 1993
weekend Millsap Elementary School Fair. We think she was dumped
because treating her heartworm would've been rather expensive. It was
an outdoor event and later that day she would follow Gale & Linda
home from the school yard. She never left - until earlier today.
Shadow was diagnosed in May 2007 with a somewhat typical "big-dog"
affliction - Bone Cancer. She was given 6 weeks to 6 months to live,
but then again, she never could tell time.
We treated her disease by dealing with the pain that would eventually
increase in her already arthritic joints. It was only within the past
several days that she could no longer walk more than 10 feet without
lying down. I carried her in and out of the house the past few days.
I was more than happy to help, but she was beginning to suffer beyond
the relief her treatment could provide.
She slipped away more gracefully than we could have hoped. Her heart
must've been tired - very tired. Within a few seconds she slowly
lowered her head and closed her eyes. She looked just as she did this
morning when she was sleeping - except she was no longer in pain.
She was with us for almost 15 years and was already a year and a half
old when she picked us for her home. She lived beyond every estimate
she ever heard. She breezed thru an arduous heartworm treatment (the
vet was amazed). She beat Lupus. She survived a thyroid ailment. And,
to the HUGE surprise of her canine dermatologist, fully recovered
from a condition that was removing the pigmentation from her nose.
Yes, she surprised us all, first with her arrival, and then with her stamina.
We'll miss Shadow but will never forget the joy and love she brought
to our home. A good friend once told me after losing another pet,
"She'll send another". Shadow was soooooooo smart, we're looking
forward to seeing who she's gonna steer our way.
I've attached the tribute Jacki put together to her. I'm sure you'll
see the same "smile" and sparkle we saw in her for the time she was with us.

A Unique Friendship

So Ill second that God is quite amazing and defiantly works in some pretty g'narley ways.
My friend Sam came to me and asked me if I could take pictures of him and four of his buddies the other day, and what do you think I said, DUH! Man I was so pumped. Well to say the least I took over 10 G of pictures. Used all my memory cards, but I have to say it was well worth it. I got to meet some pretty amazing people. Here is some of the stuff I got to do with them. I'm really pleased with the way they turned out.
This is what I live for!

Hum, graduation. A dream that is so far away right now, but yet so close. What can I say I think the love and passion for photography has been imbedded in my brain since I was little. My mom using her 35mm Cannon, and my Dad always checking the new ways to update her with new equipment; I was intrigued.
I always felt the best way to express yourself is through your work. Some people can do that through school work with their grades but I found the best way to express myself was through photography. What better way than to make a career out of it, right? I came to Texas Tech as a Photo communications major and have never looked back. I love my major! I get to wake up at 8 in the morning and play on freaking Photoshop. I’m so lucky to have such a hard working group of professors working at Tech. Last weekend I had an interview with K Porter Photography and I learned a whole lot. I had to put together a portfolio and get my resume updated as well as my flickr account. Being a photographer I’ve learned you’ve GOT to keep yourself updated. If you don’t, man you could miss out on a great interview or job.
Along with photography I’m getting certified so I can teach as a side job. I’m going to get my certification in speech but what I eventually want to do is work my way over to teaching a photography class on Photoshop and workflow. I absolutely love working with people and teaching them things. I think that would be a very rewarding job. So with teaching I believe the schedule is and can be very flexible with hours to build up my photography and do a lot of freelance work on the side. I’ve come to find that taking engagement/ senior portrait pictures on location is a blast! You really get to know your clients and who they really are. All I know is that I hope that I let God work through me and through my work to really touch people. I believe I have been blessed with this passion and I want to live it out everyday. Hey guys so my professor for Writing in Electronic Media gave us this pretty sweet assignment about finding jobs in our profession. So all your photographers out there its time to read! All depending on what kind of photographer you are, and interested in, plays a huge role on where you need to start looking. My love and heart is in extreme water sports photography. So know you’re probably asking yourself, “Where the heck would you get started with such a thing?” Well, connections play a huge role in pretty much every job. I believe a little bit in the saying, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” Photographers have to be will to start from starch. We as photographers might have to work for a newspaper for awhile to gain experience before we can actually produce more of our freelance work on the side for money. Also starting in a news room allows you to build up your cliental. Getting your name out there is crucial for a photographer. The goal is for people to know your name and the kind of work you produce, so what better place to start than the newspaper. As a starting photographer you want to gain as much experience as you can from watching other photographers. As a college student finding an internship could be very beneficial to you and your workflow. Every city and state has tons on wedding photographers that would love to have an assistant, and what better way to learn the ropes of wedding photograph than through someone that has already started their own business in doing so. Making your way into the photography industry is and at times can be very difficult. Photography has grown a lot in the past few years, and now any average user can pick up a camera turn it to automatic and start shooting. So what does that leave the “real photographers”? We know how to use our equipment and utilities every thing at once to make a great image. So much for point-in-shoots right? So what is next for searching for the right job? Working for a newspaper, looking for internships is just the beginning. What about going out to sporting events and passing out your business cards? What photographers don’t know is that most people don’t carry around a camera and if a soccer mom sees a photographer out there she will be dieing to have pictures of her young kids in action. It all goes back to getting your name out there. You need to find your passion, because if you’re not having fun doing it then your photographs won’t be anything to the person buying them; or will they even buy them? Ok, so what about all those people out there that want to shoot for National Geographic? Yeah trust me I think that’s every photographers dream at some point. I just recently came across a blog for one of the photographers on staff with National Geographic. To say the least I though he was very cocky. Yeah he’s a good photographer and he seems humble, but I think when it comes time to retire he will have a very hard time giving up his spot. One of is blogs was about getting a job with National Geographic, “The lust for capturing the images has got to be what drives you.” I think that quote can go a very long way. Know what you want out of your photography, and people will see that in your work. Don’t be scare to go out there and shoot, and if people don’t notice your work then, keep working harder. The only person that can promote you the way you want is you. Don’t waste time, get out there. Now here is a saying I live by, “Photograph Your World!”
